Engraved by William Chapin, New York. Has a portrait of George Washington next to the title. A scarce map engraved by the same (We presume) William Chapin of New York who published the National Map of the United States in 1835 (see Karrow) and the Ornamental Map of the United States (see our copy) in the 1840's. This map is similar to Finley's and Melish's maps, but subtly different. Outline color by state, folded into red textured card board covers 12.5x7 with "U. States" stamped in gold.
