Agustín Codazzi; was an Italian military man, scientist, geographer and cartographer. He made his main investigations and cartographic work in Venezuela and Colombia, thereby creating for both countries a complete set of maps and statistics after the tumultuous post-independence years from Spanish Empire.

Geographical and historical atlas of the Republic of Colombia (Antigua New Granada), which comprises the Republics of Venezuela and Ecuador, under the general geographic works of Agustin Codazzi engineers implemented in Venezuela and New Granada. Cartography by Manuel M. Paz, and explanatory text written by Dr. Felipe Perez Member of the Geographical Society of Paris. (8), 26 pages of text and index, with 21 double page maps. Maps are full color, bound in dark brown cloth covered boards with title "Atlas de la Republic de Colombia" in black. Very rare example of the second atlas ever dedicated to Colombia. The first was Restrepo's Atlas that came with his 10 volume Historia de la Revolucion de la Republica de Colombia (see our 5597.000 for the atlas volume).
