The Juvenile Atlas or a Series Of Maps, To Illustrate the Old and New Worlds. Philadelphia. Published By H.C. Carey & I. Lea 1822.
Pub Reference:
None found.
Pub Note:
This was the finest school atlas made by Carey and Lea - it had more than twice the maps of the more modest "Carey's School Atlas" (see our 1825 edition) and has an engraved title page. The extra maps include maps of groups of the American States, and Ancient maps. J.G. Melish made several of the new State maps, as well as the U.S. map which first appears in the 1820 edition of Carey's School Atlas. This copy is lacking three maps - the U.S., Eastern States, and New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Bound in half leather brown paper covered boards with "Atlas" printed on the spine.
