Second edition. First Texas map in an atlas. Description of Texas is 2 pages, but Texas is not yet called a Republic. This edition has separate maps of North Carolina and Georgia, in addition to the map of both Carolinas and Georgia. Also, the previously combined Alabama and Mississippi, and Tennessee and Kentucky are separate maps in this edition. Dated 1838 on the cover label. May have been issued also in 1836 or 1837. Maps with hand painted outline color. Bound in half leather marbled paper covered boards with "Bradford's Comprehensive Atlas 1838. Containing About 100 Maps." printed on front label. Spine is stamped with "A Comprehensive Atlas. Geographical, Historical, Commercial."
