Note:
Atlas consists of title page with Tableau d'assemblage, Departement de Paris from Atlas National de France, and 9 double page maps that assemble into a map of Paris and the adjacent areas. Shows villages, seats, major roads, valleys, woods, vinyards and pasture lands. Surveyed by Sr. Roussel. Main map includes ornamental border and decorative cartouche depicting angels and putti. Relief shown by hachures. Bound in red marbled covered boards with leather spine and label pasted on the front reading "Atlas du canton de Paris" in gilt. Date is estimated based on the date on the map as l'An IV de la Reublique Francaise. The first edition of this map was published in 1731. This is the fifth, updated edition, published after Roussel's death in 1733. There are many changes in the updated map, for example adding the Champs-de-Mars military academy and the Pantheon. The 1731 first edition was used by John Rocque for an English edition.
