Pub Note:
Maps of southwesterm Germany and Switzerland by Joseph Edmund Woerl, mapmaker in Freiburg 1830-1838, with some maps updated to the early 1850's by adding railroads. See our 6829.030 for a composite of Switzerland and Wuerttemberg that includes most of these maps in the same or earlier editions. This group of 48 maps is divided into 12 dissected sheets of 4 maps or title each. Either Woerl or booksellers presented his maps in multiple ways: as bound volumes (see our Woerl Atlas of France and Atlas of Central Europe), as loose sheets with titles (see our Switzerland and Woerttemberg sheets), or as mounted and dissected sheets in cases (this example and our second edition Central Europe). An important document about the road network. Red lithographic stone printing. Date is estimated from the latest sheets. Maps fold into two boxes, 20x16 cm each.
