Pub Note:
Color pictorial map of the United States on sheet 50 x 72, drawn by Elliott Anderson Means and presented by Russian War Relief, Inc., an organization established after the Nazi invasion of Russia in 1941 to help the millions of refugees displaced within Russia by the invasion. Includes legend: "The map of the western half of the Soviet Union has been placed (in reverse) upon the map of the United States." Map shows state boundaries, industry, landmarks, Rocky Mountains, major cities and railroads. Relief shown pictorially. Map not dated but the descriptive text below the map suggest 1943, "some of the survivors now are returning to homes recaptured by the Red Army." The map uses the overlaid maps of parts of war time Russia to show Americans the intensity of the war's impact on an ally.
