New edition of old and new Testament map of Palestine from the Surveys conducted for the Committee of the Palestine Exploration Fund, revised by Charles Wilson and Claude Conder. (see our 6930.000 for the earlier 1880 edition). This is the first scientific topographical map in 21 sheets 59x43 or smaller, including title on sheet 1, Imprint and scale bar on sheet 5, Geographic names on sheet 16, explanation of terms and key map on sheet 23. According to the index, the collection completed without sheets 17 and 18. Map depicted major cities, towns and villages, rivers, wadis, telegraph lines, ruins, roads, tracks, hills and mountains. Relief shown by shadings and spot heights. Prime meridian: Greenwich. Maps include the modern names of historical locations and traditional territories of the Twelve Tribes of Ancient Israel in black, and place names as they relate to the Old Testament in red and blue. The collection supplemented by “Raised map of Palestine”. Maps placed in orange half leather cardboard slipcase, with title pasted on front cover.
