Pub Note:
Timeline map of the Arab world from early Islam until year 1962 Milady. On sheet 67x120, folded into paper covers 28x15. Edited by Abbas Mahamoud Sherif and Muhamad Syd Nasr, Ministry of Education. Published by Middle East Book Center companies, Cairo. Historical Map Collection. Map number 1. "This large and fascinating time chart is printed entirely in Arabic and showcases the history of the Arab World from the foundation of Islam in the 7th Century up to 1962. It was published in Cairo in 1962. The thirteen vertical columns represent the main modern Arab nations (Egypt, Syria, Iraq, etc.), while the registers along the sides mark time. The various labelled colours represent the political regimes that controlled these lands over the centuries; for instance, the large yellow area in the centre represents Mamluke rule, while the large brown area above represents the Ottoman Empire. This is the only Arabic time chart we have ever encountered." (Alexander Johnson, 2020)
